Exciting Application Developer Role for Global Fortune 500 Client, SC Clearance or BPSS required

Great News! Our client, a hugely respected global Fortune 50 company, is expanding a US based IT Application Archiving project to their Cheltenham, UK location. This creates the opportunity to get on board as an Application Developer in a dynamic team that is using ingenuity to reverse-engineer the data from applications to be retired.

This position will commence in August 2017 with an anticipated minimum 12 month duration. The application developer will be onsite the majority of the time, but regular remote work can be made available.

The Application Developer will be responsible for all technical aspects of an Archiving Project, leading activities associated with the retirement of legacy applications and the deployment of archiving technology to provide a repository for data associated with the legacy applications.

Objectives:

- Provide individual business units with guidance on the functionality and limitations of the archive front end interface

- Work with business units to transition legacy data into the archive solution

- Work with business units to provide standard Views required for data access

- Provide guidance on schema definitions, content metadata, and system Jobs

- Assist in monitoring archive performance as new applications are added

Duties & Responsibilities

- Provides support for the archive solution

- Performs moderately complex set-up for archive solution

- Schedules installationsprojects associated with retiring applications and migrating associated application data to info-archive

- Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.

- Develops and maintains documentation of the operating system configuration.

- Lead in developing and implementation of data archival design from documented requirements, performs unit and integration testing, and supports system and acceptance testing as required.

- Works with business to architect, design, and implement complex archive with program management and assigned Business Analyst.

- Provides knowledge of clients' technical and business priorities, challenges and initiatives that can be translated into archive solution opportunities.

- Resolves and troubleshoots technical issues on chosen archive platform.

- Update documentation of procedures and methods as needed.

- Prepare technical Views by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

- Participates in Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

- Must have some understanding of applying technologies (DB, SQL, Views from an archiving product perspective) to address business needs.

- Participates in the design of new archiving solution by assisting in writing specifications, constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system reporting capabilities.

- Has some knowledge and should be able to recommends controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.

- Create and execute data retention/removal functions

Required Experience

- Familiarity with SQL Query packages - possesses the ability to reverse engineer a query to locate source data (table/column)

- XQuery for data retrieval

- XML (template modifications)

- XSL, XForms, XSD (for custom type definition used in field validation)

- XPath (used to bind XForm data model to XForm view model)

- Experience with AGILE and SCRUM development methodologies a plus

- Experience with Rally AGILE project management suite a plus
