ORC International is currently embarking on an ambitous new online research platform to facilitate data collection, integration and reporting. The Technical Architect will be expected to play an important role and help to:

- Shape the technology approach based on the art of the possible and good practice from other organisations

- Define and evaluate potential architectural scenarios for the required capabilities, identifying representative candidate products in conjunction with a Data Architect

- Evaluate paid and open source software solutions to integrate into platform

- Assist in recruiting and leading the development team

- Initial creation of a proof of concept moving to a wider roll-out

- Engage with other technology teams

- Coach and mentor the technology delivery team

- Help advocate and evangelise the proposed solution and engage with clients and other teams in the organisation to communicate the vision and realisation of the new platform technologies

Preferred Background & Experience

- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent

experience

- Oracle/PL SQL, Java, Python and other mid-tier languages

- Experience architecting, developing and tuning high performance, scalable applications

- Use of a range of Application Server environments and technologies such as Spring and Docker

- They need good communication skills and to have worked on at least a few medium term engagements

- Deep understanding of data, analytics and business intelligence

- (Desirable - Professional Services and/or experience with Survey Research)
