Experienced Gear Cutting Setter / Operator - Surrey

Experienced Gear Cutting Setter / Operator to set and operate machines to cut, shape and hob sections for various sized batches of gears. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the high standard of quality are maintained for these products.

The ideal person will be a machine setter/operator with experience of using various gear cutting and checking equipment. You will have produced Spur, Helical, worms, wheels etc. and will take pride in the quality of work you produce. You will also be keen to continue developing your skills with the desire to progress into a more senior role.

Job Description

*Programme Set and Operate, Pfauter P60 Gear Hobbing machine

*Programme Set and Operate Sykes V400 Shaping machine

*Set and operate Mikron manual Hobbing and Shaping machines.

*Checking of components to ensure parts are to drawing and of an acceptable standard.

*Be able to graph components and read and qualify results.

The Candidate

*Must be vigilant and diligent, with a good attention to detail, and able to maintain high standards of work.

*To understand and interpret requirements accurately, by effective questioning, listening, clarification and implementing of information, and record results.

*Effective communication skills (verbal and written) in order to liaise with colleagues.

*Use of literacy skills to complete route cards, records, etc.

*To have basic PC skills to ensure electronic system is kept up to date.

*An industrious and enquiring individual working alone or as part of a team, without direct supervision.

*A willingness to learn new skills and advance their potential to becoming a competent and flexible member of the manufacturing team, and progress continuous improvement.

*Proven skills within a gear cutting environment.

*Must be willing to work overtime when required to achieve delivery dates.

*A good knowledge of tooling specifications and cutting data would be an advantage
