JOB TITLE: Cloud DevOps Lead Engineer

SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £100,657 - £118,420 for London and £86,964 - £102,310 for outside of London

LOCATION(S): Leeds, Edinburgh and London

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: At least two days per week (or 40% of your time) at one of our offices listed above.

Purpose of the role

We're seeking a highly qualified, motivated and innovative hands-on DevOps Engineer to play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the technical direction of our platform. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing complex systems, solving problems, and mentoring and line managing junior Engineers. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in DevOps, specifically Cloud focused, a passion for technology and commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions. You'll be a technical inspiring senior manager and driving the delivery of the next generation technical platform for the organisation. Our team The Cloud Platform team is on the journey to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group that will be at the core of one of the UK's biggest financial service transformations. We're looking for a Lead Cloud Engineer to Join our Cloud DevOps lab within the Cloud Platform.

The day to day

  • Architecturally lead large scale, high impact, projects providing Cloud Security consultancy
  • Be proficient in leading technical conversations with customers of varying levels of technical background, including Senior Management and other Domain eExperts
  • An expert collaborator across internal, external, and 3rd party teams
  • Have the ability to provide education and mentorship covering multiple security and technical topics to support different teams on those topics, and drive upskilling
  • Strong commercial awareness and excellent eye for business
  • Ability to write Security Standards, Policies, Designs and other such collateral
  • Ability to be hands-on to perform PoCs to better understand products and assist them to design and review

Essential skills & main accountabilities

  • Detailed knowledge of and experience in DevOps/Continuous delivery and standard methodoliges, to be able to confidently design and implement solutions.
  • Expertise in using DevSecOps tools and frameworks for handling infrastructure as code (IaC), Terraform.
  • Expertise in Shell Scripting, YAML templates
  • Strong understanding and expertise using configuration management and CI/CD automation practices and tools Jenkins, Harness, Spinnaker, Gradle, Nexus, Maven, Git
  • Expertise in source code management, branching and deployment strategies.
  • Cloud technologies and infrastructure : Hands-on experience with at least one of the 3 main cloud providers Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) is needed.
  • Experience with cloud services like container registry, secret management, networking.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
