AlphaPlus is a Manchester-based business providing educational services to a diverse range of clients in the UK and overseas.  We help our clients design, develop, deploy and evaluate qualifications and their underpinning assessments.  Increasingly we provide technology-based solutions for clients, typically providing on-screen examinations and supporting services.  Typically, we work with third party suppliers to develop and/or integrate a bespoke solution for a client.  All solutions are web-based.

We are looking for an assistant software tester to join AlphaPlus. The ideal candidate will have an interest in software testing as part of waterfall or agile lifecycles and be willing to learn about:

  • Planning test cycles and measuring progress of testing within a cycle
  • Designing, creating, and executing test cases
  • Investigating and documenting defects
  • Writing clear defect descriptions
  • Partaking in defect categorisation through a defect triage process
  • Creating and publishing reports showing relevant statistics from the testing process.

The role would suit an individual who has previous hands-on experience or wishes to move into this area.

Benefits include:

  • discretionary profit related bonus scheme
  • NEST workplace pension scheme - tier 1
  • enhanced sick pay cover
  • enhanced maternity/parental leave
  • 25 days paid leave plus the eight statutory bank holidays
  • commitment to developing the expertise of our employees.

For an informal discussion about the vacancy please email Kath Fanning, Click here to contact this recruiter who will arrange for a member of the team to contact you at a convenient time.

The post is permanent, full-time working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday and is Manchester office-based.   Job share/other flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.  Any such preferences are to be discussed further at interview. The company offers hybrid working (two days per week minimum in the office, with three days working at home).  The exact allocation of office-based days is decided by the appointee's manager, although flexibility remains our policy and approach.

The role will also involve national and occasional international travel, potentially including working in customer offices.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview on 2 July 2024 although this date may be subject to change.
