DevOps Deploy Support Engineer (UrbanCode) SALARY: £66,861 - £74,290 LOCATION(S): Can be based in Halifax, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff or Edinburgh HOURS: Full Time WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site


Would you like to work in a forward-thinking, progressive team, actively working in on-prem, private and public clouds? You'll focus on the administration of the IBM UrbanCode Deploy solution.


You'll be responsible for both technical leadership and technical support, whilst supporting the design, build and implementation of DevOps solutions based on business requirements. You'll confidently take the lead during service outages through incident and problem management, ensuring our colleagues and customers receive the most reliable service possible.

The role sits in DevOps Tooling Services, part of the Enterprise Engineering Tooling team within the Chief Technology Office.

Skills & Experience we'd need to see


We'd need you to have experience of UrbanCode Deploy administration. You'll be giving technical support of the IBM UrbanCode Deploy solution as a technical lead within the Enterprise Engineering Tooling team.

Understanding of DevOps concepts and methodologies, developed through your experiences as a DevOps Engineer (or in a similar software or cloud role) with a focus on service management

You'll be a passionate technical leader, delivering Engineering Excellence through the delivery of high quality and reliable DevOps solutions.

Do you have experience in programming and scripting? Excellent! These skills are vital to this role.

You're a big picture thinker but still focused on the details, keeping the customer's needs at the heart of all solutions. You identify and evaluate complex expertise-led solutions against criteria to find the ones that best meet business and customer needs.

We want you to use your creativity, being innovative in your solutions but also methodical to ensure all aspects are covered.

You'll have superb communication skills - especially visually and through "telling the story", using the data to communicate complex messages in an accessible and compelling way. You'll also be able to distil sophisticated information and present it in a succinct and clear format through both written and oral presentation.

Infrastructure as Code e.g. Chef, Terraform, Ansible

ITIL or Service management experience

Formal software development experience

Agile work practices

Google Cloud Platform knowledge

Azure knowledge

OpenShift Container Platform knowledge

Linux or Windows admin

Application Lifecycle Management

Software Delivery Lifecycle

Working knowledge of databases and SQL

Groovy scripting
