The Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC) are producing the next generation of advanced Electric Propulsion Systems to power future JLR vehicles.

As an EV Welding Technician, you will be responsible for the future electric vehicle welding operations and driving the change within the EPMC. You will ensure production welding stations meet requirements and safety criteria, using your technical knowledge and practical approach. Solving welding technical issues with the wider operational teams, ensuring efficiency and standards are met across the business. You will use your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to drive the electrical change that is occurring within JLR.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Safely operate, troubleshoot and maintain welding stations and equipment. With a hands-on practical approach to delivering the product.

• Serve as a go-to-person for understanding and rectifying quality issues with the process/product.

• Learn, understand and follow JLR requirements for employee safety, product quality and productivity.

• Occasionally perform quality check weldments (macro/micro, CT scan, PAUT and SEM analysis)

• Assist production associates to keep production on-going from an arc welding perspective.

• Identify and communicate suggestions for continuous improvement.  

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:

• Experience in manual welding GMAW, GTAW, MMA or CMT

• Understanding of safety requirements within a welding/welding facility environment

• An individual who is able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style

• A good communicator who can communicate complex ideas

• Evidence of an apprenticeship or a minimum Level 3 vocational qualification
