WHAT TO EXPECT

We are looking an Application Lead Controls Engineer to join our Powertrain department and support development JLR highly integrated charging and battery management systems, you will have a chance to design, integrate and validate our in-house charging system software for our current and next generation of electrified vehicles.  

As an Application Lead Controls Engineer, you lead the design and delivery of our control algorithms and in-house software in the creation of our BMCM (Battery Management Control Module) to support JLRs exciting future product line up. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: 

  • Create and provide concepts for control algorithms in coordination with our hardware and system teams. 

  • Create and run feature test cases at the vehicle level for the charging and control systems, as well as SiL, HiL, PiL, and MiL systems. 

  • Implementing and monitoring DV and Pass-Off-Test software for charging systems. 

  • Resolving software problems with charging systems (including out-of-process upgrades and quick prototype containment of faults). 

  • Developing software requirements and raising knowledge of MISRA C and Embedded Coder for the creation of production code requires cross-functional and cross-team collaboration. 

  • The creation of additional functionality, including bi-directional capabilities, by switching control algorithms to a mass-production standard for HV charging modules. 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED  

  • Systems Engineering experience including understanding of Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) with MATLAB and Simulink 

  • Experience delivering embedded software in a real time control environment. 

  • Experience in development of robust control algorithms, converting high-level requirements into control code;  

  • Knowledge of quality tools to assist in the development of robust algorithms. 

  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, with the ability to quickly understand and articulate complex issues. 

  • Strong systems thinking and analytical skills.
