ING is looking to hire an IT Area Lead for Group Services, Finance & Procurement. You will be leading a team of IT chapter leads responsible for supporting the technology needs of the Area of financial accounting.

You are overall responsible of  IT projects related to financial accounting systems, procurement tools, reporting and data analytics to improve operational efficiency and continuously evaluating and recommending new technologies and tools to enhance departmental operations. You address technical issues and challenges promptly to minimize disruptions in accounting and Ledger operations and also identifying and mitigating IT-related risks that could impact the same.

In addition you have a general knowledge of Finance & Procurement processes in financial services and general knowledge of banking. Your managerial skills allow you to coach chapter leads and attract and retain the best engineers by supporting the professional growth of IT staff through training and mentorship.

As IT Area Lead you are directly responsible for 5 Chapter Leads. A chapter consists of 20-30 engineers on average.

Your working environment will be in the space of accounting and closely working with space of data exchange and reporting, and the further build-out of ING's central accounting, general ledger and reporting needs.

You can act as equal counterpart for ING's Enterprise Architects to find the best solutions under constraints.

 

Job description:

The IT Area Lead:

  • Manages 5 Chapter leads hierarchically

  • Managing relationships with IT vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective solutions

  • Ensuring that IT systems comply with industry regulations and implementing security measures to protect sensitive financial data.

  • Acts as coach for his Chapter leads on a daily basis

  • Unburdens his Chapter Leads from managerial tasks where possible

  • Balances Run and Change, especially with a keen eye on IT Procurement

  • Ensures the IT backlog flows into the overall backlog process

  • Manages stakeholders across multiple local departments.

  • Makes his teams and others that depend on him successful

  • Sets the example for life-long learning

  • Encourages his chapters to invest in innovation and AI enablement

  • Managing the IT budget for the department, optimizing costs while maintaining high-quality services.

  • Treats standing still as falling behind

  • Values engineering craftsmanship

  • Actively participates in recruitment initiatives to bring in the best talent

  • Is able to reason from business needs deeply into actual software solutions

 

Your work environment:

You will be working within the department Group Services Finance & Procurement and report to the IT Lead. Depending on seniority exposure to the wider context of Group Services is expected. We hire for talent and expect you to show professional growth and will give you all the support you need.

 

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for someone with at least 8 years' experience as an IT manager. You have a proven track record in managing application software at scale.  We value experience in the financial industry, especially experience with Accounting, Regulatory Reporting and Financial Procurement functions. You are able to act as the technology pillar in the overall way of working.

 

Personal profile:

You align your architecture vision with the long term IT vision and the business strategy. You like complex analysis and you can identify and use the different forces that exist in the organization. You are a team player and able to motivate others. You have good communication and consultancy skills and you are persuasive.
