Bristol: Hybrid 2 days per week in the office and the rest from home
Salary & Benefits: £85,255 to £100,300 per annum, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Engineering Lead to be a key part of the Data Content Services Lab and join us in our Bristol office.
We're right in the middle of an exciting shift to cloud, making this an excellent time to join our team on this journey. Most of our teams have already onboarded and have started doing really great work on GCP.
About the role;
We're the owners of the Enterprise Data Hub - a Hadoop implementation based upon Hive and Spark, currently favouring Scala. The Group has signed up to a strategic partnership with Google to utilise their Cloud Platform services (GCP) to build a new strategic platform for the Group to prepare our Bank of the Future service for customers.
We are currently migrating some of our existing applications and building new, strategic applications on the new platform.
What you'll be involved in;
As a Engineering Lead you'll be responsible for leading multiple teams delivering the highest quality data processing and analytical systems.
As a key member of the lab leadership team you'll understand and feed into key business and lab priorities.
You will work with your Team and your peers to define the lab engineering strategy and ensure optimum delivery standards.
As a leader, you will coach and mentor your teams to create a curious and effective workforce.
What key skills you'll need to apply for the role?
We'd welcome applicants from diverse organisational, cultural, and technological backgrounds and believe this is critical to success. We need to see evidence of the following in your application to be able to carry out the role;
Experience working as Team Lead or Senior Manager within a Data Engineering or similar function. Relevant prior career background.
Prior experience of scaled data systems (large scale Hadoop, Spark, Beam, Flume, or similar data processing paradigms)
Hands-on approach and knowledge of scaled data systems, ideally Hadoop/Spark
Proven data transformation and ELT experience
Hands on data engineering experience in any Cloud Platform.
Desirable;
Google cloud platform experience or other cloud technologies, ideally Azure or AWS
Curiosity - constantly looking for new ways of solving problems and delivering more efficient solutions, especially using automation and DevOps methodologies
Adaptable - ideally with experience working in a large matrix organisation, delivering in both traditional fast path Waterfall and Agile methods
