Scala Developer - Glasgow - Long Term Contract

My client who is a major investment bank is looking for an experience Scala Developer to join their team based in Glasgow on a hybrid working policy.

Primary Responsibilities: In this role you will be responsible for helping architect and build their next-generation trade booking and life cycle management platform for Securities Lending and Repo. This platform will capture and amend trades booked by Securities Lending & Repo trading desks and enable the post trade management for all trade life cycle activities. You will work within a squad of developers to implement the solution and promote good design as well as development best practices.

This role would suit a passionate, yet pragmatic developer that can consider broader community needs and any established enterprise technologies, successfully transform sometimes ambiguous requirements into quality product features, and chart a long-term course for their mission critical trading systems.

This role will be offered on a hydbrid working basis enabling you to work both in the office in Glasgow, as well as from the comfort of your home. This will be on a 12 month rolling contract, offering upto £650-750 per day via Umbrella subject to experience and interview performance.

Skills required (essential): . Good problem solving and analytical skills . Good oral and written communication skills . Proven experience in a programming language (OOP) . Application architecture and systems integration . Solid understanding of databases . Understanding of full software development life cycle and concepts such as test driven development Skills Desired: . Scala development . Agile development practice . Sybase and/or DB2 experience . Experience with NoSQL databases . Understanding of application frameworks such as Spring . Understanding of event based architectures, both point to point and subscription based . Experience of designing and building Front End applications, be it web or desktop technologies
