A leading premium automotive business and leading to move towards electric autonomous vehicles. WHAT TO EXPECTThe Logistics Engineering Strategy Manager will take responsibility for leading a small highly skilled team of logistics engineering and material flow professionals within the Logistics Engineering Team.
Your expertise and leadership will help ensure success across a wide range of engineering projects, from small scale changes on legacy equipment at any one of Jaguar Land Rover's manufacturing sites, through to large scale transformation projects, initially and primarily supporting the introduction of JLR's Electric Modular Architecture (EMA).
You will play a significant part in Jaguar Land Rover's move towards automation and intelligence across logistics, including but not limited to Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV's), Automated Storage (ASRS) and Intelligent Pick Systems.
The role will require a significant amount of time being spent at the Halewood site to support the delivery of EMA programmes; however individuals could also be based at one of Jaguar Land Rover's West Midlands sites and travel to Halewood when required.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Strategic evaluation of logistics systems and solutions from inception through to deployment
Develop, lead and manage a team to deliver multiple change projects in the field of automation engineering and facilities across logistics operations.
Provide Logistics Engineering leadership for all Jaguar Land Rover's Electric Modular Architecture (EMA) programmes.
Develop and integrate logistics systems requirements in conjunction with the Digital Team to ensure Jaguar Land Rover are kept at the forefront of a move to Industry 4.0
Development of a five-year strategic plan to modernise and implement logistics automation systems.
Project status reporting in conjunction with the Logistics Engineering Project Management Team
Review existing and legacy logistics solutions, identify and develop business cases for improvement activities.
Ensure the launch of logistics engineering systems and solutions are robustly delivered to meet uptime and quality performance requirements.
Manage and develop cost submissions for programmes from desktop studies through to capital approval. WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
Experience of working across complex logistics landscapes in a multi-site environment
Understanding of material flow concepts and deployment of solutions within the automotive industry
Tech savvy with hands on experience of driving engineering change through the introduction of automation
Commercially astute with budget management experience of over £10m within engineering projects
Experience of programme management and change management in automated logistics and manufacturing environments
Experience of leading facility change programmes.
Experience of centralised strategy development in a logistics environment
Experience and ability to benchmark best-in-class for the industry and present gap analysis to Jaguar Land Rover processes.
Proven ability to work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the logistics strategy.
Proven ability to create strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to provide in-depth analysis of complex issues and provide strategic direction
Desirable:
Experience of embedding innovative technology solutions to increase business efficiency.
Relevant Project Management qualifications e.g. PMI, PRINCE2, MSP, IAPM, Agile
Previous work experience for a large international logistics supplier or automotive OEM Logistics
