Salary£70,000 - £100,000 base depending on experience, discretionary bonus, 15% pension WhoOur Cloud Engineering team is looking for an experienced Cloud Optimisation FinOps Lead. You'll be a hard-working individual, looking to shape and provide leadership in the Cloud Services FinOps function to provide a highly automated product offering with consumer self-service at its heart. As more workloads move on to the cloud, a more varied provision of requirements, changing in line with day-to-day consumer demands, needs the right control, governance and tooling support to enable to Group to understand the financial impacts and realise the value of the Cloud. You'll provide coordination and oversight of all aspects of Public Cloud spend, using appropriate cloud financial management tools. This includes responsibility for day-to-day detection of key areas of waste, optimisation, utilisation, etc., providing insight to consumers on best practices, whilst providing clarity on data insights so that they are empowered to maximise the return on their cloud consumption and make business decisions and trade-offs between speed, cost, and quality. You'll identify and help drive the build, automation and improvement of a strategic FinOps toolset, working directly with the Engineering community, you'll understand Cloud Technology, how it works and how it is charged for. What you'd get involved with:Lead metrics and dashboard review meetings to ensure MI is available to enable consumers to have accountability for their financial performance and to help identify waste, utilisation, potential areas of optimisation.Assist individual groups, including Cloud Services, in cost management activities and pursuing cloud cost-optimisation initiatives.Lead the delivery/maintenance/support of the FinOps tooling in place within Cloud ServicesEnsuring sufficient controls are in place to allow cloud expenditure to be aligned and allocated / charged to the accountable business area / Product Owner.Providing support to prospective Cloud users to help them understand their consumption and what they can do to optimise their spend.Liaise with the CSPs to understand opportunities to reduce costs and use resources effectively in our Cloud environments.Coordinate our Cloud Commitments (e.g. Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Committed Use Discounts)Coordinate Sustainability reporting improvements and collaborate closely with CSPs and other third-party providers to ensure accuracy and depth of sustainability data. What's needed to be considered for this job? Essential:Must have leadership experience - not necessarily line management, but experience of leading and guiding colleagues/a team.Demonstrable knowledge of public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)Experience working with Financial Services or other large enterprises and highly regulated environments.Understanding of various services offered by Azure / GCP and how they are consumed/charged forExperience with KubernetesExperience with API based integrations.Experience with database management/administrationKnowledge of the cost optimisation levers that are available to public cloud consumers and the challenges associated with realising them.Prior experience with cloud costing models, forecasting etc. Desirable:A formal certification / qualification such as FinOps Certified PractitionerA public cloud certification (e.g. Google Associate Cloud Engineer)Prior experience with cloud dashboards, reservation management and cloud FinOps toolingExperience with coding/scripting (e.g. Python/Terraform) and code repositories/pipelines (GitHub/Jenkins)University degree in an Engineering subject (or related field) or equivalent experienceExperience with dealing with/joining/visualising datasets and associated tooling (e.g. PowerBI/Tableau) What you'd get in return: We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit.
