A leading premium automotive business and leading to move towards electric autonomous vehicles. WHAT TO EXPECT JLR are recruiting a skilled and enthusiastic Electrical Distribution System (EDS) Lead Engineer to support the growing and exciting Range Rover & Range Rover Sport EDS Engineering Projects based in the UK, within Digital Product Platform (DPP).  The candidate will be technically capable and an inquisitive EDS Engineer to lead the project delivery team within EDS design and development; from Project creation, through component data integration, 3D CAD design, 2D drawing creation, complexity generation and component release and delivery, utilising many of the key EDS industry toolsets and techniques. This role will cover both low and high voltage EDS systems.  Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities  Lead and take responsibility for the robust and efficient development of the Range Rover & Range Rover Sport EDS commodity including geometry, cost, weight, quality, robustness and functional performance.  Accountable for leading the team to ensure the successful merging of logical data with mechanical data in alignment with Bill of Design (BoD), Bill of Process (BoP) and harness design for manufacture (DFM) requirements. Lead EDS 3D design progression tracker (VEPS) and product validation through an internal requirements management tool for EDS including virtual and physical testing. Responsible for 2D / 3D wiring harnesses geometry, change control, product definition and change management processes in order to deliver innovative, robust and efficient product actions Ensure robust implementation and compatibility with downstream systems through to production.  Responsible for ensuring that all the required documentation / plans to support virtual builds, validation plans (e.g. JLR PDP181, stepped validation plan) are in place and progressing with integrity to meet programme plans. Accountable for setting tasks and objectives for the delivery of the EDS system to the varying Model Year programmes Coach and guide the supplier to deliver the EDS commodity on time to agreed cost, weight and quality standards Demonstrate understanding of AGILE methodology. Key Interactions As an EDS Lead Engineer, you will work closely with multiple, external to EDS, stakeholders/customers and full-service suppliers to ensure the efficient and robust creation and integration of the EDS system.  Key internal interactions will be with the Product Engineering CoC's, Vehicle Engineering, Vehicle Programme Teams, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, Supplier Technical Assistance, Prototype Build and Current Manufacturing Engineering teams.  You will report to your Group Leader and interact with your Project Lead Engineer and Supplier Lead Engineer daily, coaching your team to maintain on time delivery whilst exceeding weight, cost and quality targets. WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential: Must be able to clearly and logically articulate technical details and issues to a broad range of individuals and teams with varying levels of EDS understanding, in order to engage co-operation in develop truly integrated and efficient solutions. Must be resilient and able to manage difficult and challenging situations in order to ensure the delivery of efficient, integrated and robust EDS solutions with the JLR products. Must be able to demonstrate technical understanding and have a passion for technical detail and innovative problem solving. Must be able to demonstrate a level of technical leadership within your previous area of work.    Self-starter able to sustain a high, multitask workload to combine engineering with business skills. Able to lead and work within a team or alone with exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail. Must be computer literate and easily adapt to company specific systems (previous knowledge in WERS, AIMS, JIRA Tickets, RMDV, ECR's would be a benefit but not essential as training can be provided). Must have good presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate to all levels within the company. Clear demonstration of the ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines and commitments. Desirable: Previous work within a multidiscipline engineering team. Experience of technical problem resolution. A knowledge of system validation processes. Experience with the following tools: 3D experience, CATIA, Team Centre, DT Database, ECRM (change control manager), Digital Buck, ERP (circuit design portal). Detailed awareness of connector systems and harness components would be an advantage Detailed awareness of fuse box design would be an advantage. Experience on tooled component design, such as harness formers and components. Understanding and experience in the development and deployment of EDS quality tools and standards. A background in Automotive Engineering design, development and delivery.  Experience and knowledge of EDS durability and validation testing. Experience and knowledge of EDS manufacturing and future EDS manufacturing technology.
