An exciting opportunity for a Senior Optical Design Engineer in Torquay, to join a global company that cover a broad range of functions in engineering and manufacturing. The Senior Optical Design Engineer will be expected to design and develop optical and fibre-optic components, modules and sub-systems. They will have an active involvement in prototype build & test and exploit the company’s fibre optic and opto-electronic components to develop cutting edge products. The Senior Optical Design Engineer will manage a small team of technical engineers and work within a multidisciplinary team that includes mechanical and electronic design engineers. Skills required:Knowledge and experience in fibre-optics, photonics and general opticsHands-on experience in design, construction and test of fibre-optic components, systems or opto-electronic modules.Knowledge & experience in one or more of: high power fibre lasers/fibre amplifiers, non-linear optics, Photonic Integrated Circuits, Acousto-opticsExperience in design and development of fibre-optic and free-space transmission systems (analogue, digital, coherent)Experience leading or managing a team of technical engineers
