Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Blackburn - with travel to sites across the UK

£55,000 - £75,000 + Car Allowance + Progression + Expenses + Company Pension + 33 Days Holiday

Excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer with an authentic passion for sustainability to join an organisation where they can be involved in varied, unique and high-profiled work.

This company is considered the leading turnkey engineering contractor in the UK for the Energy and Heating industries.

They have been operating for over 30 years, have hundreds of employees across the country and are looking to expand with plans to grow approximately 20-25% year on year. They are committed to providing a whole life cycle approach covering everything from design and installation to operation and maintenance.

In this role you will be responsible for managing and delivering mechanical designs across multiple teams and projects, covering things such as: energy centre layouts, boiler/pump/pipe sizing, water treatment systems, de-aeration systems and flue designs.

The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer in the field of Mechanical Engineering and have at least 7 years of relevant experience within the Heating or Energy sectors.

The role:Involvement in major projects across the UK, from Aberdeen to Bristol and South WalesDirectly involved in all aspects of the design processResponsible for overseeing senior, trainee, graduate and junior mechanical engineersInvolved in a broad range of detailed designs, including District Heating systems, Energy Centres and HVAC/Building Services

The person:Minimum 7 years' experience in mechanical design engineeringBackground covering Energy/Heating industries (date centres, district heating, boilers etc)Chartered statusPrevious leadership/mentorship experienceFluent with current Building Regulations and National Design Specifications (NES/NBS)
