You're wired differently. So is our tech.
London is one of the most exciting and diverse cities in the world - and policing it is no easy task. It takes a huge number of people with a wide range of skills and experience to keep over eight million people safe. Some of those skills include seeing opportunities in technology - and that's where you come in.
As a Senior Operations Technician, you'll play a crucial part in protecting London. Supporting our talented, tight-knit team, you'll develop technical solutions for frontline policing operations. As we expand, we now have a number of vacancies for exciting roles.
Our Operational Support Unit (OSU) tackles a wide range of exciting projects in direct support of operational policing. Our work involves the design, development and deployment of video surveillance products and associated systems.
As a Senior Technician, you may be responsible for supervising a small number of staff, so leadership skills would be helpful. You'll also need a background in one of the following areas: project or resource management, electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering, camera technology, IP/CISCO networks, microprocessors, RF and satellite communications, or machining, fabrication and rapid prototyping.
Along with this hands-on experience you'll bring an appropriate technical qualification (or equivalent). If you're also a member of a relevant professional body, so much the better. Above all, you'll need a great aptitude for leading others to solve problems. Technical training will be given where appropriate.
The role can take you across London so you'll need a full UK driving licence. You may sometimes be working outside office hours, so you'll need to be flexible. And while this is an exciting role, your discretion is vital - which includes having or applying for MV/SC security level clearance.
As well as the opportunities to work across the city, there are many other benefits you can expect. This includes flexible working patterns, a competitive annual leave allowance increasing with your length of service, Met sports and social clubs and much more. We're always working to build upon our diverse workforce to reflect the city we serve, so you'll enjoy a varied and fulfilling working environment.
