Job Title: IT TechnicianLocation: Hulme, ManchesterSalary: will be on the Sixth Form Colleges' Support Staff Scale, point 10-12 (£23,367- £24,915 per annum).Job Type: This is a full-time, full-year post working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. You will however, on occasions, be required to work outside these hours to meet the requirements of the college.Purpose: To work as part of a team to assist staff and students in using all forms of IT equipment in the college, and assist in the running and development of the college IT infrastructure.Responsible to: The Principal through the Head of Information Systems, Network Manager and IT Support Team LeaderLiaising with: All staff and students, including the Head of Information Systems, Network Manager, IT Support Team Leader and technical colleagues in particular.Main Duties and Responsibilities First- and second-line support for staff and student enquiries by logging, resolving and escalating IT support issuesSupport all IT equipment within the college including peripherals such as AV devices, printers, telephony, door access and CCTVInstall, configure and troubleshoot hardware and software issuesUse the college service desk to record issues and solutionsUse of Active Directory for account managementProvide IT support for college events including events out of usual college hoursLogging, tracking and inventory of IT Assets and licensesWrite and maintain system documentationPackage software for deploymentTo prioritise tasks appropriately in the absence of any other instructions from line managementTo undertake any other duties the Principal or designated alternate may reasonably direct from time to time within the context of the Loreto College contractAssist in other areas of the IT network as required: monitor/maintain web filtering & security devices, procure equipmentPhysical installation and patching of IT equipment, e.g. swapping desktop computers, provision of laptopsTo liaise with external support providers to resolve issues as requiredTo ensure familiarity with the Cross College IT (CCIT) team's aims and objectivesOut of hours work On occasion the successful candidate will be required to support college events out of college hours and potentially provide support in case of system failureWhistleblowing All CCIT employees have a specific and explicit duty to inform the Senior Management if they are or become concerned that poor or inappropriate practice or procedures threaten the safety or integrity of all or any part of the IT service, software, hardware or dataStaffing To undertake staff development where appropriateDeployment of Staff To work as part of a team and to ensure effective working relationsQuality Assurance To ensure the effective operation of quality assurance systemsTo assist with the implementation of College quality proceduresCommunications To liaise with relevant external bodies as appropriateMarketing and Liaison To contribute to the College liaison and marketing activities.To link with external agencies as appropriate.Management of Resources To contribute to the maintenance of an attractive working environment in the IT areas and any other rooms used.Other To support the aims and objectives of the CollegeTo attend meetings as appropriateTo wear the corporate clothing provided by the College, where appropriate, or otherwisestandard business attireTo undertake any other duties the Principal or her designated alternate may reasonablydirect from time to time within the context of the Loreto College contractThis Job Description is subject to periodic review and amendmentPlease click the APPLY button to send your CV and Cover Letter for this role.Candidates with the relevant experience or job titles of: Cloud Technician, IT Support Engineer, IT Service Engineer, Service Desk Technician, IT Support Technician, Cloud Support Engineer, Support Technician, 1st Line Support Engineer, IT Support, IT Systems Support, will be considered for this role.
