DWP. Digital with Purpose.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We offer support and services to over 20 million daily users, and make payments worth over £195bn a year.

Our DWP Digital teams are using the latest tech, tooling and thinking to transform how public services work. It's a generational change, making important services simpler to use, easier to access and more efficient to run.

We are developing our people, capability and skills so we can sustainably build, maintain and modernise products, applications and services that really work for our uses.

We hire brilliant people from across every discipline you can think of - engineers, analysts, designers, researchers, delivery managers, testers and loads more - and work together as agile squads, driven by an extraordinary purpose and the buzz of solving unique problems.

The scale of our engineering challenge, and the impact of the work our engineers do, is massive:

We have 1bn lines of code in over 12,000 code repos and 90+ programming languages.

We run around 294 days' worth of testing every day through automation.

Our APIs receive 173 million requests, and we spin up 280,000 AWS servers every month.

Over 22 million people - 1/3 of the UK's adult population - access our services daily. Over 100,000 colleagues and agents use the kit, tools and systems we roll out. We're one of the biggest payers in Europe with over £195bn payments made annually.

We're looking for your skills and experience in the following:

Recent experience of open source technologies such as Java, NodeJS or C#.

Developing on cloud-based environments like AWS and Azure.

SQL, Oracle and noSQL database applications such as Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB are requested.

The skills to build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support continuous integration.

Knowledge and experience of APIs, RESTful services and Microservice Architectures.
