Job Description

Let us tell you a little bit about the role...

As a Lead Agile Delivery Manager, you will be accountable for the recruitment and performance management of delivery managers within your area. You will remain ‘hands-on', supporting high-priority product delivery, providing direction, building, motivating, supporting and facilitating teams as well as removing obstacles and blockers that get in their way. You will define and implement standards and processes for delivery and are experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams that build, support and continuously improve products of significant scale and complexity.

You will be part of our digital delivery leadership community driving cultural and procedural change and embedding Agile approaches and ways of working. With a strong background as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach (or similar roles) you will primarily focus on delivery strategy, while supporting the creation of self-organising and high-performing teams, supported closely by Senior Delivery Managers.

Delivery Managers in DIT work within a community of practice, supporting each other to improve Agile practices across the department and deliver in line with the department's priorities of trade, investment, and export promotion and supporting the UK's agenda for a Global Britain.

Responsibilities

You will have demonstrable skills and experience of:

Agile and Lean practices - You are an expert in Agile and Lean practices, and can coach and guide teams.

Commercial Management - You act as the escalation point and resolve large or high-risk commercial management issues. You know how to coach others in appropriate commercial management.

Communication Skills - You can mediate between people and mend relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels. You can manage stakeholder expectations and moderate discussions about high risk and complexity, even within constrained timescales.

Maintaining Delivery Momentum - You can actively address the most complicated risks, issues and dependencies even when ownership exists outside the team or is unclear.

Making the Process Work - You can identify and question organisational processes of increasing complexity. You can coach and guide teams to adapt to new processes and whilst being the main point of expertise.

Planning - You can manage a continual planning process in a very complex environment, planning beyond product delivery.

Team Dynamics and Collaboration - You can identify problems or issues in the team dynamic and rectify them. You can coach the team and individuals through development.

Desirable Skills and Experience

This is not necessary but would be ideal if you:

Financial Management - You can negotiate, influence or set budgets in complex environments.

Life-cycle perspective - You can apply experience in multiple parts of the product life cycle. You can recognise appropriate deliverables and the right people to meet them.
