Help drive a public transport service powered by data By 2030, 10 million people will live in London. Millions more will continue to visit. At TfL, we manage one of the largest urban transport networks in the world. Every day we collect a high volume of data from a variety of sources, including bus, tube and tram journeys, in addition to things like traffic sensors, detectors on vehicles and much more. We then turn this data into actionable insights. As Development Stream Lead you'll manage a team of data and analytics experts, visualisation developers, and automation testers to help deliver our Technology and Data Strategy. You'll work in collaboration with BI Architects and Data Architects to create solution designs. You'll lead a development team in the creation of technical proof of concepts. And you'll collaborate with other development leads to define common patterns, standards as well as best practices. You'll be experienced in the following:Working with big data and technology, preferably as a BI Developer or Data Engineer for a large-scale data warehouse system that focused on financial and customer information. Managing and motivating a team of talented individuals who work collaboratively with each other, appreciate diversity and inclusivity in all its forms, and who feel inspired and passionate about the work they do and the contribution they bring to the team. Confidently handling conflicting demands and requirements to both budget and plans. Being a creative problem solver who always has a ‘plan b' ready should the need arise. Communicating complex information in a clear and engaging manner to an audience of peers, Directors, and non-technical stakeholders. The ability to translate numbers and figures into stories and insights.
In addition to being skilled in: Microsoft Azure - Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, Stream Analytics, Azure Data Explorer Databricks on Azure, Spark Strong Microsoft SQL Server (2014 - 2019) development - (T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS Tabular) Data modelling Data warehousing - Kimball & Inmon models, data loading Performance tuning & monitoring Agile development Automated testing Azure DevOps Data encryption Knowledge in these areas would also be beneficial: Non-SQL Server database technologies e.g., Oracle, Analytics Platform Services C#, PowerShell & .NET If you think this sounds like the role for you, please click the APPLY button.
