Position: Cloud Solutions Engineer Team: Infra / Platform Engineering Location: London Position Summary: As a Cloud Solutions Engineer at Beacon, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders combining your industry expertise with knowledge of our platform to plan and deploy our infrastructure solutions for clients in the financial services industry. You will be integrated in our clients' journey beginning from the early stages, serving as a specialist versed in delivering cloud-based solutions and advice to a variety of different client types inside (and sometimes outside) of financial markets. This will involve understanding both the client's business and the capabilities and configurations of the Beacon Platform, and will also involve participating in the scoping and planning of the client's onboarding, and onwards through their production implementation and post-production phases to enable them to leverage Beacon best practices. In addition to involvement with individual clients, this role requires ability to generalize and advocate proven solutions and combinations that can be replicated across wide client use-cases and types. Key Responsibilities: Understanding the Beacon platform and its components, in particular related to the infrastructure, deployment, security, access, configuration, scalability, integration, audit, recovery, and management. Understanding clients' business needs along the same set of parameters, which includes participation in client discovery/requirements/implementation phases. Applying that knowledge in scoping and deploying small enterprise installations with our DevOps team. Participate in the scoping, architecting, and design of bespoke solutions for enterprise clients. Develop the procedures for executing and supporting custom deployments. Develop and scale up ‘knowledgebase' and ‘Beacon Recommendation' materials for use by other client-facing engineering/training teams, as well as clients themselves.Required Skills & Approach: Familiarity with adopting/integrating open-source and closed-source solutions, software development lifecycle, and maintenance, including self-hosted/hosted/PaaS offerings Experience engaging and interacting with large enterprise clients. Familiarity with the needs and expectations for access control, isolation, security, disaster recovery, etc. Ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders at different technical levels Excellent client-facing attitude and communication skills Software engineering / network engineering / DevOps engineering background Software development skills and fluency - Python or other modern scripting language (Ruby, Go, Javascript etc) Willingness to operate in a dynamic mixed disciplinary environment - engaging with both internal and external SMEs, managers & teams Nice To Haves: Cloud certification in either AWS or Azure Consulting experience / system advocacy Understanding of the data/security requirements of large financial institutions (investment/retail banking, etc) Familiarity with MongoDB, Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Terraform, Puppet 7+ years software engineering experience Beacon does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
