Introduction: 

Lancashire County Council's in-house Digital Services team have a vacant position for an ICT Engineer/Designer to provide professional technical ICT Engineer expertise covering design, implementation, operational ICT support, and maintenance of ICT infrastructure and/or applications and services.

We are looking for an experienced engineer/designer for our Infrastructure team in a busy and challenging large-scale environment. Working for a local government organisation delivering ICT services, you will benefit from public sector terms and conditions of employment whilst working in a fast-paced technical environment. In this role you will provide a high level of professional expertise to specify, design, and implement specialist services.

LCC Digital Services provide support to a large-scale environment of over 900 servers delivered from vmWare ESXi and HyperV platforms. Management of the customer environments is underpinned by Active Directory delivering a Windows 10 user experience enhanced by the use of MECM/Intune and Group Policy. Users benefit from Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, OneDrive, and Teams with remote working enabled by AOVPN and a Citrix XenDesktop platform

Candidate: 

In this role you will

Ensure the effective implementation of solutions, projects and programmes.

Provide technical authorship and ownership of solution designs to meet client requirements aligned with the strategic direction of ICT Services.

Maintain an up to date in depth knowledge of ICT technical area(s).

Maintain an awareness of solution discipline/client sector trends and policies relating to ICT.

Seek advice and guidance from 'subject matter experts' in the industry on technical and operational issues as necessary.

Undertake ICT problem diagnosis and resolution for escalated incidents

Producing and maintaining appropriate technical and operational documentation.

Develop and maintain knowledge articles.

Ensure all design deliverables are delivered on time to the correct quality standards

Understand the key design parameters and governance required to deliver a successful design.

Lead discussions with existing and new suppliers and exploring emerging technology options.

Assist with the delivery of design methodology, processes and standards.

Taking a role in problem diagnosis and resolution including on call emergency support where required.

Taking a role in technical support recovery activities following failure, including disaster recovery.

Monitoring performance and propose and implement performance enhancing changes,

Ensuring that availability targets are met.

Producing and maintaining appropriate technical and operational documentation.

Developing and maintain knowledge articles.

Providing effective communication within the service and between other services and customers

Ensuring that the customer is at the heart of all of the services delivered.

Delivering a customer focused service to both internal and external customers
