About this Role

This is an exciting time to join us as we're undergoing a major transformation programme and this unique opportunity is for the right person to lead and define the DevOps strategy for the Intellectual Property Office.

Accountable to the Head of Platforms and Digital Enablement, you'll have responsibility for creating the relevant DevOps strategies, working closely with the architectural community to build technology roadmaps and oversee the creation and implementation of architectures and designs relating to DevOps technologies. This will include producing plans to integrate automation and monitoring all steps of the software development life cycle (SDLC), embed a DevOps culture to provide better software agility, improve deployment time and advocate the use of automation and Cloud technologies across IT.

Person Specification

Experience of line management and recruitment

Influencing, both inside an IT department, and across the organisation

Understanding of appropriate governance for rapid delivery and support of solutions

Experience with DevOps practices or working within a DevOps culture

Experience with modern delivery models such as Scrum and Agile

Working Style

This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff will be expected to spend around 1 day per week, or equivalent if part-time on-site at our Newport office.

However, we recognise this is a hard to fill role and would encourage candidates to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager to agree a reasonable balance between working from home and the office.
