Job description
Located on the North Wales / Cheshire border, Broughton is the largest Airbus plant in the UK and focuses primarily on the manufacture of wings for the Airbus family of aircraft.Airbus at Broughton has a vacancy for an Automation Machines and Systems Engineer to join the Automation team.The team is responsible for the deployment and support of automated machinery for the manufacture of aircraft wing structures and sub-assemblies.  Manufacturing processes include machining, forming, drilling, fastening, cold-working, sealing and painting.  The scope of automated machinery ranges from large milling machines and industrial robots to lightweight solutions and collaborative robots (cobots). Main TasksAs Automation Machines and Systems Engineer, your key tasks will include:Defining the requirements for new automated machines and systems, managing their installation, test and acceptance, and entry into serviceDeveloping improvement ideas and new processes for existing automated machinesManaging Capital investment projects and participating in multi-functional teams to deliver actions on time and costManaging the CapEx process for medium scale and high value investment projectsProviding automation support to other Airbus departments and suppliersProviding problem solving expertise, technical knowledge and machine data analysis to support machinery in productionBe a technical focal point within the plant for automation systemsKey SkillsAs the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following:Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in EngineeringExperience in the field of Industrial automation and/or Robotics (A degree in these topics specifically may be considered as a substitute)A capacity to develop robust Project Management skillsAbility to work within an MFT as a Technical contributor and leaderProficient digital and data analysis skills. Experience with statistical or data analysis software tools would be advantageous e.g. Minitab, SkywisePrevious problem solving experience.
