New role.
New tech.
New approaches to cyber security. The challenge Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an evolving public corporation. Essentially, we're responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. It's a hugely important job, which is why we're constantly exploring new technology - and cyber security to protect it. In this newly created role, you'll have the scope to innovate as a Security Architect. The role As our IT modernisation programme continues, we're shaping security to make sure it's the best it can be. In this brand new role, you'll review all technology implementations across ONR and give sound security advice. Day to day, you'll define security principles for IT projects and programmes, scrutinise architectural designs and make risk-based design decisions. An expert in best practice, you'll champion continual security improvement across ONR's enterprise IT estate. Because we have a progressive security policy, there'll be fantastic exposure to new tech. We're open to new approaches and you'll enjoy the freedom to explore forward-looking ideas.  The person This is a critical role in our Corporate Security team so you'll need proven technical talents. We're looking for a background in security within cloud services, and experience of security controls such as Azure or M365. Your knowledge should cover security principles for common enterprise technologies (for example, VPNs and databases) and NCSC architectural best practice. We're also looking for the ability to develop architectural designs and security strategies for complex systems. However, to succeed, you'll need the communication skills to explain complex information to non-tech colleagues and build trust and relationships. This role will place you at the centre of ONR, working with a wide range of people. Like all our roles, this one offers flexible, hybrid working. However, you will need to visit the office from time-to-time. The rewards We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £53,543 - £61,921 (plus a London Weighting allowance of £4,052). Furthermore, you'll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you'll receive a generous holiday entitlement. About us ONR is a Public Corporation with a mission to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds with specialist inspectors to deliver our core business including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they're involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider international nuclear community.
