Senior DevOps Engineer - £80,000 + Package - London, UK (1 or 2 days a week in office)*This role does not provide Sponsorship* We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Technology team on a permanent, full-time basis. Despite the current circumstances we are still actively recruiting for roles. In compliance with UK Government advice relating to COVID-19, this role may initially be remotely based in line with the rest of our workforce and we will supply you with the tools and technologies to enable you to work in this way. During this phase, interviews will likely be conducted over video conferencing technology, e.g. Google Hangouts or similar. It's a pivotal time for Technology as we drive forward our ambitious transformation programme, putting users at the heart of every product we create, evolving our technologies to deliver best in class user experiences. Over the next twelve months we will be developing both our commercial and advocacy product offering, trialling new ways of working, driving innovation and enabling the teams we work with, both supporting existing systems and in the provision of new ones. What you'll be doing As a Senior DevOps Engineer, Work as part of the Digital DevOps team to build cloud based infrastructure and ensure that all systems are well maintained and secure. The application technology stack is also fairly diverse and includes Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, NodeJS, Redis, Postgres and MySQL. We work on a varied selection of projects with numerous teams across the business, using mainly Scrum within the Scaled Agile (SAFe) framework. You will be joining a fun and supportive team, and sharing knowledge and collaboration are core team values. We will expect you to contribute your own ideas and expertise at all stages and hope that you will be able to work with us to shape our DevOps processes and drive improvement. What we'll need from you - Support the agile way of working within the DevOps team (e.g. standups, planning sessions, retrospectives). - Build strong working relationships with internal team members and external stakeholders.- Support the more junior team members through mentoring, peer reviews and paired working.- Keep abreast of the latest DevOps technologies, trends, tools and practices.- Evaluate new technologies and help to introduce them into the DevOps team where appropriate.- Support the migration of existing infrastructure to the new target Elastic Beanstalk and Docker architecture.- Create AWS based infrastructure from code for each of required environments (test, preprod, prod).- Script all infrastructure configuration and ensure that all environments/stacks are templatized and organised into reusable components.- Create automated and repeatable build routines that are used to create deployable application containers.- Apply best security practice to all infrastructure and applications that the team works on.- Comply and contribute to the departmental as well as company standards and procedures.- Help to improve DevOps team process. Essential Skills/experience include: - Experience of multiple AWS services: EC2, VPC, CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda, ElasticBeanstalk, IAM, RDS, Route53, S3, ElastiCache, ElasticSearch, WAF.- Programming experience in Bash and one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Node.js, Java, Scala, Go, C++ What we'll offer you We believe in getting the best out of people, and our refurbished modern working environment is relaxed and friendly, including a subsidised canteen with access to its own roof terrace.
