Work with the Head of Platform Engineering to ensure the systems and products delivered operate within the budgets for operational expenditure.Drive best practice approaches to the build and maintenance of Big Data estate platforms with focus on automation and efficiency.Take ownership of technical issues and work through to resolution.Plan, manage, and perform upgrades on all Data Services related infrastructure as required.Close collaboration and relationship building with various teams across Company and its partners.Design and document policies and procedures to be used both within and externally to the team.Ensure Big Data Platform SLAs are achievable and met. What we need from youTech Skills Real world experience of developing and deployment of production grade Cloud platform infrastructure in the Big Data space (AWS, Azure)Expert in delivering infrastructure as code using TerraformStrong experience in developing configuration management pipelines using tools such as Ansible.Hands on infrastructure experiencePython and Linux shell scripting skills are a must.Knowledgeable in the area of continuous delivery and continuous integration, using industry standard tools such as Jenkins, GitExperienced in open source Linux distributions such as Ubuntu from a system admin perspective Nice to Haves Experience of Qlik Attunity/Compose products and Oracle is beneficialKnowledge of Cloudera Data offerings is beneficialPowerShell would be desirable. Soft Skills A self-starterEasy to work with, open, honest, and a good sense of humourOptimistic; comfortable celebrating failure when it leads to learning and iterationPassionate about good software; active contribution to open source or personal projects on GitHub is massively beneficialCollaboration with operations team to ensure operational processes enable out of hours platform incidents to be resolved quickly and with minimum downtime.
