Typically, a Lab has a strong focus on complex problem solving in an agile environment where engineers are free to experiment and build innovative products which will transform the way our customers engage with us.Our Insurance, Pensions & Investment (IP&I) Labs are passionate about improving support to our customers throughout their financial lives, with clear, straightforward customer journeys, helping empower them to make the right decisions on their long-term Saving, Investment & Retirement needs.So what is the role?As a Quality Engineer, you'll play a key role in driving quality software solutions into production. You'll strive to deliver customer driven solutions whilst reducing risk by implementing the right level of engineering artefacts through Agile testing, with an "Automation first" approach in every phase of the software delivery process that aids speed to market and better quality.You'll build our automation practices and approaches on real software delivery as well as supporting the adoption of an automation test strategy for our team. You'll balance hands on automation, whilst also building up the Quality Engineering standards. You will work closely with other QEs in order to support overall testing activities and drive best practices.Your responsibilities and day-to-day work will include:Help to design and implement, maintainable automation frameworks/suites.Complete exploratory, functional, accessibility, security and performance testing alongside automated testing.Develop and extend frameworks, templates and guidelines for developing test scripts.Support with writing detailed Test Plans and End of Test Reports, evidencing the quality of the software we ship.Understand and write the test data requirements, collaborating closely with the external teams across the Value Stream and beyond.Essential criteria: Previous experience working as a Quality Engineering or in a similar role within commercial environmentAbility to work without supervision but also in partnership with the other QE in the team.Demonstrable experience using automated testing tools Postman, Cypress, Selenium.Strong communication skills with ability to clearly present ideas and provide guidance to others.Previous experience working within modern Agile practices and demonstrating real passion for its principles.Desirable skills & experience Your experience has given you an understanding of programming principles and standard methodology, e.g. for crafting re-usable, modular and sophisticated code.Reviewing colleague's work and providing them with feedback in a constructive and positive way is something you enjoy.Previous experience using automated testing tools such as Newman, WebdriverIO, OWASP Zap, SonarQube, Load Runner, Performance Center.Understanding of microservices / NodeJS / BDD Best Practice.Familiarity with DevOps tooling for execution of automation tests such as Jenkins, GIT, GerritReal desire to be part of a large transformation to Cloud journeyDon't worry if you don't tick all these boxes; we're open minded and keen to invest in enthusiastic and positive people!Our continued dedication to helping Britain recover means that as a colleague you can make a difference to customers, businesses and communities.Together we have a key role to play in shaping the bank of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll continue to have opportunities to learn, grow and develop.We're focused on creating a values-led culture, and our approach to inclusion and diversity means that we all have the opportunity to make a real difference, together.So what can we offer you in return?We offer phenomenal packages including; private medical insurance, discretionary bonus, various share plans, a pension where we contribute up to 15%. 28 days holiday, plus 9 bank holidays and cash sum of 4% which you can exchange for a variety of benefits, or simply take the cash.
