The Role:

As the Principal DevOps Engineer, you will lead our DevSecOps strategy, instilling best practices, ensuring standards are followed and collaboratively develop our roadmaps. You will be responsible for ensuring DevSecOps is embedded in to our SDLC, security along with quality assurance is built in and operational aspect isn't an afterthought. We believe DevSecOps runs from project inception through to live and decommissioning.

What you'll be doing:

Managing our DevOps team and ensuring we have the right talent and skills, by recruiting, coaching and mentoring individuals.

Responsibility for managing the demand of the DevOps team, collaborating with teams to ensure expectations are met.

Championing a DevOps culture with automation at its core.

Supporting developers in building and maintaining pipelines.

Developing our existing baseline to introduce feature branch deployments, canary releases and defining the deploy vs release approach we take.

You will drive DevSecOps adoption, defining what good looks like for SPW and overseeing the organisation in adhering to these standards.

Your skills and experience:

Exceptional technical knowledge in DevOps applications and processes with at least 5+ years experience developing enterprise scale, cloud based solutions.

You can clearly articulate what DevOps and DevSecOps mean to you, and what a healthy approach is to these concepts.

You have a passion for technology (as well as DevOps!) and experience of what doesn't work well as much as what does.

Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines in support of build and deployment of both web and mobile applications.

You understand how and where quality can be tested in automated CI/CD pipelines.

You are equally attuned to the Security and Ops aspects of DevSecOps, and experienced in defining and delivering logging and monitoring strategies across distributed systems. You take a pro-active approach to minimising outage.

You have experience in managing people and personal development.

You can work with stakeholders and manage demand on the DevOps team.

You retain hands on engineering skills in some or all of our core technical stack: TypeScript, Node.js, React (Native), CircleCI, , Terraform, Containers, Networking, Serverless, Lambda, DynamoDB and AWS in general.
