Senior Database Administrator Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum dependent on experience Hours: 35 hours per week Contract: Permanent  Location: Hybrid Working  We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Database Administrator to join our ITSS Division.  You will be responsible for the management and administration of the Society's databases, compromising of Oracle and MS SQL Server.  You will oversee the day to day running of the databases ensuring tasks such as housekeeping, administration, maintenance and security actions are all completed within agreed timescales and industry best practices. You will also assist the DBA Manager in managing the team of database administrators, carrying out regular 1:1s and team meetings and completing performance reviews. Key Responsibilities Include: Manage, support and administer the Society's core application and database systems in compliance with SLAs. Assist in the delivery of Society and ITSS project plans. Provide 2nd line out of hours support for application and databases associated with Business critical systems. Assist projects with system and database design, implementation, support and understanding requirements set out by the Project Manager. Maintain the Society's database systems of internal control in accordance with the internal IT security policies. Provide input into database and system designs. Manage, plan and implement monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual processes (e.g. Vulnerability Mgt, Database Audit processes, Capacity planning, Licence reconciliations, Database patching, Software releases and Roadmaps). Assist in recovering core Society database and related systems during Disaster Recovery Tests and ensuring the Society can continue in business in the event of a disaster itself. Define and ensure the Society's critical data has suitable backup policies and scripts written and tested.   Ensure releases are implemented following proven release and deployment process. Resolution of Service Desk logs assigned to them. Carry out team lead responsibilities such as 1:1s, team meetings and performance reviews. Skills and Attributes:
You will have excellent working knowledge and experience of: Oracle 12c to 19c version relational databases MS SQL Server 2014 through to 2019 databases Core operating systems (Microsoft Windows server 2016 onwards and Red Hat Linux)  You will have an understanding of current technology and future trends with the ability to apply this to current business requirements.  Due to the high level of access to Society core systems, you will have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as any error could result in drastic consequences resulting in downtime of the Society's computer systems.  You will have a positive and flexible attitude and accept responsibility of new systems and new software technology.  Administration skills with the ability to provide management reports and procedure/document writing is essential.  As you will conducting 1:1's and performance reviews previous line management skills would be advantageous.
