Role description We have an exciting opportunity for a Linux Specialist to join our busy team at our Airbus Defence and Space site in Stevenage to help design, integrate and implement IT solutions from a technical perspective You will be the Subject Matter expert for Server-Linux technology and advise and deliver a Server-Linux technology or methodology, ensuring that technical solutions, procedures and models comply with standards, meeting customer requirements and handing them over into Operations under well-defined SLA's/OLA's. Main tasks Support Infrastructure Product design, as well as other projects, and Global Operations in developing new architectures and standards in the area of Server-Linux technologies Support the development and evolution of new Linux product offerings, aligned to IT services product and cost reduction strategy, to meet customer needs. Review and analyse new technologies to be integrated into the operations technology portfolio. To assure the global standards are defined, followed and maintained Plan and follow-up on innovative and end-to-end projects related to Server-Linux technologies. Partners with stakeholders and customers across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization. Collaborate together with external partners to co-develop a roadmap for the future. Frequent interaction with peers from the global operations centres and other IS functions is required to secure reaching EiS with minimum impact on the production environment and fulfilling the agreed business requirements in quality and time Ensure proper management of escalated problems from Global Operation Teams Please state the types of targets to which the job-holder contributes       To ensure that business application and services have the IT infrastructure they require OTOQOC Ideal applicants will have experience of a range of the following and there's opportunity to round out your experience across parts that you might be missing - Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering 5+ years of professional experience as a server system engineer or similar role Linux (RedHat / SUSE / CentOS / Debian) Virtualisation and clustering UNIX Apache Web Servers Basic Networking - LAN / WAN, TCP/IP Scripting - Bash / Python / Ruby (desireable) OpenStack & AWS Cloud Services (desirable / opportunity to learn) Automation tools - Chef / Puppet / Ansible (desirable / opportunity to learn) What we can offer you A competitive salary with annual profit share An ever growing list of company benefits including enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave and generous pension contributions Very strong, very real career development options across our transnational, market leading company A hybrid working pattern of 2 to 3 days per week in the office and 2 to 3 days remotely Flexible hours - 37 per week with no core hours on Friday afternoons!
