If so, we want you to join our rapidly expanding family of highly motivated and skilled software engineers. Overview You will be based in Stevenage in the UK, where a quarter of all the satellites orbiting earth are manufactured, and which has always been at the forefront of innovation and technology. 
You will be joining a team of between 5-30 Engineers, depending on the project, you will also be part of our much wider, transnational, on-board software engineering community spread across Europe, providing you with the prospects and opportunities to be part of an even wider variety of space related activities and missions.
The successful candidate will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check) in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Tasks and Accountabilities As an on-board software (OBSW) engineer working within Airbus, you will be part of a multidisciplinary, and highly skilled, team which is constantly striving to deliver high quality solutions for projects
We are currently developing software for two Mars Rovers that will be launched over the next 5 years
After your induction and training is completed you will be working with a team, assisting with: Developing software for a state of the art next generation communications satellite Providing technical expertise on other satellite developments, as well as being involved in upcoming programmes to measure space weather (solar flares etc), the effect of climate change on our planet using state of the art technology Developing AI solutions for use in different satellite missions, both in space and on the ground. Skills and Experience Ideally you will have a background is Space systems, but more importantly you will be a software engineer who has an background in, Real-Time embedded systems as well as having the passion to tackle some of the most challenging problems in aerospace
The following is also required: A degree in computer science, software engineering or similar discipline Previous experience using C and/or JAVA language Your software skills will be complemented by being: Open, Honest and Flexible Striving to achieve team and individual goals Proactive and results orientated Ability to work under pressure and where necessary with minimum supervision Fluent, both orally and written, in the English language.   There may be a need to travel, but purely ad-hoc, on a specific project basis - the role per se doesn't require any travel.
