About the role: Airbus Defence & Space are now seeking a Project Manager to support an exciting Earth Observation space mission. You will support the delivery of our TRUTHS payload; a major Earth Observation spacecraft payload for the European Space Agency (ESA), from preliminary design through to payload delivery. TRUTHS is a metrology lab in space, composed of a hyperspectral imager with an on-board calibration system. Key tasks cover the delivery of the Phase B1 extension (preliminary design phase), proposal to the customer and then delivery of the implementation phases.  The TRUTHS payload Project Manager is responsible for successfully managing the project, ensuring that all deliverables are on time, within cost, and satisfying the customer's expectation and meeting the company financial targets throughout the project lifecycle. Previous experience in the Space sector is not essential. Duties & Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of the project on a day to day basis to ensure that all technical, programme and cost issues are executed according to the Company standards and customer satisfaction. Exercise strict control of the project cost and resource levels, ensuring that the project milestones are achieved within the cost profiles, ensuring resources are adequate, and reporting project schedule and costs on a monthly basis. Build, organise and lead the project team - provide the team with the vision and strategy for achieving the overall project goals Ensure effective management of partners and suppliers. Build and maintain a positive collaborative relationship with the customer. Ensure active risk and opportunity management, including both internal and external contract management.  Ensure effective integration of lessons learnt. Qualifications and/or Skills Honours degree or equivalent with relevant training and/or experience in project management.  Recognised project management certificates (PMP), such as PRINCE2.  Familiar with all aspects of the project life cycle from design to production, including programme control, risk management, cost control and customer negotiation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Proven ability to work on a number of complex interrelated issues. Work within a multi-discipline team, with experience of team building, decision making and target setting. Previous Experience Essential: 10 years+ strong track record in project management or major subcontract management. Proven leadership in a complex international environment. Desirable: Experience of space industry and ESA or other institutional business.
