Our client is looking for a database administrator to join them on an initial 6 months contract.

This is OUTSIDE IR35 and working remotely.

You MUST hold a valid NPPV Clearance to be eligible for this role, due to the urgency.

Data Services

Ensure the technical architectures for all database and integration solutions are consistent with frameworks and compliant with industry standards and attributes (scalability, resilience, availability, security)

Maintain, support and patch databases and integration platform to ensure a reliable, high performing, resilient service is available to agreed service levels. Resolve issues that develop unexpectedly and proactively monitor databases and suppliers to avoid any known issues.

Undertake sector horizon scanning, benchmark service against the sector to ensure service is future focussed.

Provide automation and integration to bespoke software solutions that are complex in nature

Work closely with other teams to improve efficiency and adapt existing processes to enable a secure, smooth, and successful migration to a modern hybrid cloud data platform.

Monitor all data and integration services, ensuring all services are available and performing to the agreed levels.

Maintain the data integration platform to enable systems to share data. Continually evaluate and adapt the platform to ensure simplicity of development and support. Report on system integrations in real-time.

Information Security

Maintain security of data and integration services systems through implementing secure strategies, policies and controls and automating where possible.

Incident management

Mentor others on priority and diagnosis of incidents according to agreed procedures. Investigate causes of incidents and seek resolution. Escalate unresolved incidents. Facilitate recovery, following resolution of incidents. Document and close resolved incidents according to agreed procedures and ensure lessons learned.

Problem management

Initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes, and services. Determine problem fixes/remedies. Assist with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.

Change management

Evaluates the impact of proposed or required changes which may be highly complex in nature (internally and by vendors) and provide recommendations to management with an impact assessment.

Relationships

Manage external vendors and suppliers ensuring vendors are delivering on service and providing best value to the organisation.

Experience

*Data modelling and database design

*Database performance management and tuning

*Delivering in a high performance multi-disciplinary data team

*Understanding of project management lifecycle from conception through implementation.

*Relevant proficiency and technical knowledge of development platforms

*Demonstrated proficiency with relevant programming / scripting and source code management

*Demonstrated proficiency with application monitoring / visualization tools.

*Demonstrated proficiency in analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to correlate cross-platform technologies.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities

*SQL Programming

*Capacity planning

*Experience in various Operating Systems

*Storage management techniques

Desirable Experience

*ITIL Foundation qualification

*Prince 2 Foundation qualification

*Understanding of configuration management tools and techniques

*Experience of managing support contracts, ensuring vendors are compliant with their SLAs

*Development life cycles

*Metadata management

*Knowledge and experience within a cloud environment

*Proven experience of developing technical strategies and policies in line with business requirements

*Understanding of Information Security best practices
