Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh, Halifax, London, Manchester, or any of our main sites across the UK - We're happy with home working the majority of the time, however you'll need to be in office 1 or 2 days per week.

Salary & Benefits: £52,912 to £76,470 per annum (location dependent), plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

What will I focus on in this role?

Our new OpenShift Cloud SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team is looking for an experienced and passionate SRE with strong hands-on infrastructure and development experience. As a Cloud SRE you'll be an active and leading member of a cloud-focused team of engineers working within a mission critical operational environment. Working on one of the Group's flagship hosting platforms, RedHat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) will be critical for the success of some of the banks key customer journeys over the next 3-5 years.

Specific activities which you'll be responsible for include things like;

Contributing and delivering against OCP and Cloud-technology roadmaps

Collaboratively working with other engineering teams and 3rd party suppliers to build and release enterprise-class solutions that progress the OCP roadmap.

Maintaining, supporting & improving our Cloud platforms using SRE principles including some 24x7 standby requirements.

Continuous iteration of our Infrastructure as Code & pipeline based product catalogue, responding to change, implementing enhancements & improving the platform reliability

Maintaining the evergreen nature of our platform, ensuring our platform remains current

Investigating, fixing and removing service issues with an engineering mindset

Implementing further automation and reducing toil, utilising new & existing Cloud products

What do we need to see from applicants?

Strong Engineering background and prepared to work in an operations environment, using experience from support activities to standardise, automate and improve the platform experience.

Strong dev ops understanding, "Infrastructure as Code" using technology such as Terraform, Chef and Jenkins, Ansible.

Strong experience working with a broad set of Infrastructure and Cloud technologies and services.

Good understanding of hosting platforms, such as VMWare, and Enterprise services (Networks, Security Tooling, UAM etc)

Awareness and experience of container hosting services, Kubernetes and related tools.

Ability to write scripts in languages such as PowerShell, BASH, Python and Groovy

A strong understanding of Cloud Security and working within an enterprise compliance framework.

You need to be experienced at solving problems and troubleshooting, fixing and resolving issues - owning incidents and problems through to route cause.

Demonstrates a passion to continue to learn and develop your engineering skills

Strong experience using Kubernetes and associated products (Service Mesh, EFK etc)
