Software Engineer

Lloyds Banking Group, Retail Transformation - Consumer Servicing.

Location: London based with hybrid working with 2 days in the office and the rest from home.

Salary & Benefits: £61,176 to £80,294 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

About the role:

This role is part of Onboarding and Customer Communications and will give you the opportunity to work in a fun dynamic team who are at the forefront of leading the way for customers & colleagues in transforming & digitising the Lloyds Banking Group Retail Bank across mobile, branch, telephony and internet banking. Working in a strong collaborative way to drive efforts to create, build, support and improve our end-to-end architecture across our channel development portfolio, also working closely with the product and engineering teams with lots of exciting new challenges.

About You:

You will be a core contributor to ensure good quality and engineering practices are followed in accordance with the engineering transformation strategy and report to the Lab Engineering Lead.

Passionate, inspiring and customer-centric, the Lab in which this Backend Engineering role sits is responsible for driving and executing the strategy for how the Bank engages with it's customers in an evolving digital world. We are building capabilities to personalise our digital experiences, unlocking our rich customer and behavioural data to deliver individual experiences when customers interact with our apps and websites.

Key Accountabilities:

Identify general improvements and implement engineering best practices.

Collaborate with the team to iterate the design function and implement the products.

Collaborate with Front End, Data and DevOps Engineers to build features and experiments

Build efficient and reusable back-end systems and abstractions

Find and address performance issues.

Participate in design and code reviews.

What we need from you:

Java Spring

Java Hibernate

Rest / SOAP

Containers - Such as Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes

GIT, test automation and CI

Application servers

SQL/NoSQL database

It would be great if you had:

Experience of building Microservices

Strong understanding of Core Java & Rest Services

Exposure to SOAP

Exposure to Web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JQuery, JSON

Banking & Finance experience preferably
