This is a new and exciting role as UI / UX Designer to join our Product Development Team.

The Product Management team at BSI explores, develops, and manages products, services, processes, and business models that form critical parts of our current and future value proposition to our customers. It aims to unlock the true potential and value of our products and services to our customers and society by helping to discover, define and shape the future possibilities of Standards and how they apply to the modern world.

The UI / UX Designer will be responsible for the design of our digital products and services. The Designer will be part of a cross-functional squad, collaborating with product and engineering teams, focusing on the discovery, definition and ultimately bringing our collective vision to life.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

- Create user-centred designs by understanding business requirements, and user feedback
- Perform all functions of the product design lifecycle, including sketches, wireframes, concept designs, end-to-end user flows, interaction design, prototyping, pixel-perfect UI, documentation, accessibility checks and testing/design QA
- Work with Product, Standards, Development, IT, Content Solutions, Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, and cross-functional team members " and, rely heavily on both qualitative and quantitative data to make informed decisions
- Articulate, negotiate, and refine design requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers to arrive at the best design solutions
- Contribute to product strategy by collaborating with the team to define problems in insightful ways, understanding business needs, and innovating within technical constraints
- Present design concepts and solutions to your internal product team, as well as to key stakeholders, users, and customers clearly explaining the design process, considerations, and how solutions meet business needs
- Incorporate customer feedback, usage metrics and usability findings into design in order to enhance user experience
- Identifying and troubleshooting UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
- Identify any areas of improvement in your work as well as others on the project and assess ways to strive for holistic product consistency
- Provide direct, meaningful feedback to your teammates and others and help them apply it effectively. Focus heavily on constructive critical feedback and radical candour

Skills and experience:

- Strong experience designing for long-term, complex features/products from inception to launch (and has experience conducting ongoing data-informed iteration)
- A portfolio demonstrating experience working on large scale enterprise products, specifically web platforms/applications. And case studies demonstrating a strong understanding of client objectives (Web platform experience is crucial because the designer will be working primarily on a web platform)
- Expert knowledge working in Figma as a primary product design tool
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in 1-on-1 or group scenarios. Must be comfortable presenting and discussing design decisions with the product team, but also with stakeholders and users
- A passion for analysing and understanding complex quantitative data and qualitative insights to inform design decisions
- A deep understanding of key UI/UX principles, processes, methodologies (deep understanding that extends beyond "how it looks".)
- Experience with testing accessibility of UI and updating components to adhere to client accessibility standards/requirements
- Strong experience of collaborative design processes such as Design Sprints
- Strong experience designing products that can be used across desktop, tablet or phone
- Ability to balance detail and simplicity, to create experiences that users love
- Strong communicator of the rationale and goals underneath your design decisions
- Proficiency in wireframing and prototyping tools
- Strong digital design skills and a desire to discover and innovate
- Excellent communication skills
- You must be determined, self-motivated and able to work well as part of a cross-functional team
- A genuine interest in digital publishing, data and information services

Salary up to £70,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location - Chiswick, West London (flexible home working to be discussed upon application)
