Digital and data services play a critical role in enabling the delivery of the functions of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly - and it's critical to ensure these are reliable and of high quality.

As the Test Manager in our Delivery team you will be responsible for leading the GLA's quality assurance and testing (QAT) strategy and work programme, managing the testing team's work output within the wider agile delivery cycle and ensuring that our most complex and business-critical products can be relied upon by users.

You will have extensive experience of developing and continuously improving test strategies and test automation capabilities for a Testing programme, leading test improvement and optimisation

As an ambassador for QAT within the GLA, you will help to promote understanding of the importance of quality assurance testing and advocate for improved test capabilities.

You'll also take responsibility for talent development to improve our technical capabilities and manage internal and external testing resources.

You'll have a passion for problem solving, and applying a systematic and scaleable approach to improving software quality.

Your team 

This role will sit within the Delivery team, and report into the Development Manager. The post will line manage an in-house Performance Tester and outsourced Testing Officers. while working closely with inhouse and third-party development and testing suppliers.

The Digital Transformation Unit 

The GLA's newly formed Digital Transformation Unit is responsible for the delivery of all internal and external digital products and services at the GLA. The unit is responsible for the design, delivery and management dozens of digital, data and technology services that support the delivery of the functions of the Mayor and the Assembly; and, in doing so, directly serve Londoners.

The GLA's largest and most visible digital products - London the London Datastore and Talk London - are used by millions of Londoners every year and provide the GLA with platforms for communications, convening, public engagement, data and information-sharing, and transparency. These services support delivery, scrutiny and democratic engagement at scale and at a low cost per uer compared to non-digital channels and services.

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade's Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
