Job DescriptionMaintain, review and enhance the Public organisation IT Infrastructure to ensure it supports the business and enables the Organisation to achieve its objectives whilst ensuring the infrastructure and systems are safe, secure, efficient and effective.* Ensure compliance by the team and its staff with all relevant legislation, guidance and Organisational Policies, e.g. data privacy, data control, internet access.* Responsible for the establishment of all required / appropriate infrastructure Standards, Policies and Procedures and for ensuring their effective application on an on-going basis.

Role & ResponsibilitiesDevelop, monitor and maintain the internal networks, providing fast, reliable I.T. Communications throughout the organisation.Provide Software / Hardware support - Advice and Support including maintenance for mainframe equipment (including upgrades and service packs), all PC's, servers, printers, terminal servers, cleaning and servicing equipment to operational schedules offering training / guidance where necessary.Perform regular checks of Servers to ensure optimum performance. Taking appropriate action where problems are identified, including liaising with third parties where necessary, to resolve these issues swiftly and efficiently. Where serious problems are identified, be prepared to transfer users to the backup server in order to minimise downtime for users - thereby providing maximum availability. * Ensure adequate backup procedures are in place including use of appropriate use of different media ensuring accurate labelling and safe storage - for use in the event of an emergency.Perform regular checks of Public Organisation database estate: d 3 , MS SQL. Ensure db's are operating correctly and backed up regularly. IT Manager IT Technical Manager IT Shift Operator/Support Officer x 2 IT Support Officer / Shift relief x 2 IT Support Apprentice x2 IT System Engineer x 3 IT Testing Manager IT Development Manager.Develop, monitor and maintain the internal Ethernet and RF networks, providing fast, reliable I.T. Communications throughout the organisation. This involves Fibre optic cabling, cat5/5e cabling, switches, hubs, network addressing schemes, etc.Monitor and maintain external network connectivity, linking Public organisation HQ with organisation Food, organisation with WMDC, organisation with third party technical support with rest of the world. This involves Bridges, Routers, Firewalls, Fibre lines, ISDN etc.Provide Hardware Support and maintenance for mainframe equipment, including all RF devices, PC's, printers, terminal servers, etc.Assist and advise IT department members with the installation of new servers and software.Perform regular checks of the MS Servers, VM Hosts, Aix Servers to ensure optimum performance. Where problems are identified, take the necessary action, liaising with third parties where necessary, to resolve these issues swiftly and efficiently, thereby providing maximum availability to Users. Where serious problems are identified, be prepared to transfer users to the backup server in order to minimise downtime for users.To work co-operatively with colleagues to ensure that the function operates consistently and effectively in the implementation and application of all departmental procedures and policies.To keep up to date with information, training and development opportunities appropriate to maintaining and developing professional service standards.Ensuring that services are delivered in line with relevant legislation, Public organisation objectives and policies including those relating to Equality and Diversity, Customer Care and Health and Safety.To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post.

Skills & QualificationsWorking knowledge in any Dynamics 365 or Dynamics (CRM, NAV, BC and ERP).Operational MS-SQL DBA skills - monitoring, tuning, backup.In-depth knowledge of MS, VMWare, Veeam server - e.g. reboots, restores, re-syncs, patching and diagnostics.Good IT skills with experience of Hardware and Software, Installs, Configuration.Experience in a similar systems engineer type role.Benefits26 days holiday's + bank holidays + Christmas and Easter + Bank Holiday.
