What to expect

Virtual Engineering leads vehicle or system programmes with concept simulation, modelling expertise and tools from vehicle concept phases through to launch support.

Working as part of a team of simulation engineers and leaders, this role will provide engineering support to on-going design development.

Key Accountabilities

* Support the conceptual development of Automotive Components/Systems using engineering knowledge and experience combined with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) techniques, to meet Safety and/or NVH performance targets
Run CAE analysis, summarise results and feedback conclusions to the component and CAE lead engineers in an efficient manner.Able to work effectively with design teams to develop and optimise solutions considering multi-attributes within defined deadlines and time constraintsHave some product knowledge and awareness of potential design constraints (packaging, manufacturing etc.) and ensure due consideration is given in developing solutionsSupport projects and teams including the feedback of results as required through design / project reviews * Support and present at design reviews with key stakeholders: COC component design teams, PAT teams, packaging teams
* Work with the Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to ensure project documentation for each project is managed and maintained
* Liaise with all internal customers of our business as well as offshore operations where necessary
Support the continual development of tools and techniques which enhance capability, improve quality and robustness of Virtual modelsMentor and train Junior team members and graduatesUndertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested


What you'll need

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:
Working knowledge and experience of CAE methodologies

Previous experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges

Previous experience of Safety and/or NVH component/system level development using CAE to meet defined performance targets

Previous experience of delivering engineering or analytical projects Competent in the use of explicit and/or implicit software and associated pre and post processing packages

Optistruct and/or LS-Dyna/OasysHyperworksMS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)

Experience in proposing product modifications to improve designs

Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred

Desirable:
Experience in working practices relating to CAE methods and processes

Competent in the use of:Catia 22x (mainly for CAD part viewing and interrogation)

Experience of working within Agile procedures and guidelines
