About the role?

We have a funded 2-year position available for a Senior IT Support Specialist to work in the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). The successful candidate will join us at an exciting time as new systems and applications have just been introduced and we continue our journey to move to the cloud.

You will provide first class support to colleagues, fault finding for Windows Servers, a range of end user devices and printers as well as two Content Management Systems (CMS). We have a range of technologies across public and private cloud and as a technical lead you will be responsible for ensuring our 2-core line of business applications are accessible and available.

You will be responsible for the configuration and installation of operating systems onto desktop and laptop computers including elements of device management Azure and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

The IT and Digital team are responsible for ensuring our core business systems meet there agreed uptime and you will act as a point of escalation for first line tickets and alerts, the successful candidate will provide first class support to end user. There will be an opportunity to work hybrid with this role and we will discuss this further in the interview.

The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert and a point of contact to provide advice and support on all Digital and IT equipment, software and services.

You will support the IT and Digital team and provide an escalation route for complex technical issues, escalating yourself when necessary to the IT and Digital Support Manager. Working within this role will give you an opportunity to work in all aspects of IT and will have exposure to the latest technologies and an agile way of working.

What you need to succeed

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting end-user infrastructure platforms, a knowledge of domain administration and Windows technology for a minimum of three years. Experience with VoiP telephony, Office 365 administration, knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows server is required with a knowledge of MacOS being highly beneficial. We have hybrid cloud infrastructure so a knowledge of cloud technologies and terminology is also required.

Our office is in Dundee but this role is home based at the moment as we develop our agile working policy. We encourage remote working and support a less office-based format. We are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider agile working as an option, depending on job requirements (such as being in the office for training events and meetings etc) and meeting the eligibility criteria determined by the new policy.
