Sr Platform Engineer - Permanent - Remote - $140kIT Enterprise operations are present in the US and Europe. These centers support the entire Company's Enterprise. The company values work life balance, and this position has working from home options.The company is looking to fill positions in their Linux and Azure support infrastructure team. The team is responsible for supporting all Linux based technology platforms globally with a focus on implementing next generation processing systems.The successful candidate will lead them in maintaining existing technology platforms while designing the next generation of Linux and Azure based computing platforms and High Availability systems.They are looking for candidates who have a broad set of technology skills across many areas associated with Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu). The individual needs to demonstrate the ability to manage mission critical 24x7 large Linux based processing systems and clusters while designing next generation computing platforms. The position will work with several server technologies such as Azure, Hadoop, Centrify, Zabbix, Terraform, Veritas, Oracle RAC, Sybase IQ, MySQL, SAS, clustering and virtualization. You will work as part of a global team and your main responsibilities will include: Support 24x7 existing Linux based systems running on RHEL, Ubuntu, as well as Red Hat Satellite, Centrify, ZabbixSupport and Maintain Azure technology and deployment including working with Microsoft DevOps, Terraform, PowerShell, GITPatch, upgrade and build systems as required by customers ensuring all policies and procedures are implementedWork with the team to investigate, prototype, propose and develop next generation technology options for distributed computingSupport IBM Sterling B2B Integrator MFTP - Business process development and upgradingProactively performance tune existing systems, and enhance delivery of services to customersBuild scripts to gather system information, automate manual tasks for efficiency (shell, Perl, Python), write documentation and standard operating proceduresManage, monitor and scale cloud infrastructures using Puppet and other open sources toolsBe part of the Platform team to support 500+ RHEL, Azure, and virtual serversPartner with Networking and Storage teams to innovate and support new technologiesCollect and review system data for capacity and planning purposesWork closely with clients to provide technical insight and analyticsBuild out and develop puppet infrastructure and modules for configuration managementCreate scripts to improve automated installations and maintenanceProvide operational support including maintenance, software updates, hardware break/fix, and interfacing with vendor technical supportCandidate will be 50% on Linux day to day administration, 30% on project based work and 20% on innovation, research and development Requirements:7+ years of significant RHEL and Satellite administration and configuration experienceManagement of virtualization and monitoring technologies: VMware, RHEL, Azure, ZabbixKnowledge of Microsoft Azure Architecture, configuration, Automation, DevOps and Azure Technology a big plus.Ability to script in one or more of the following languages (Python, bash)A technical understanding and proficiency in Hadoop systems in large Big Data environmentsIn-depth experience in Linux kernel parameters, troubleshooting kernel based errors, experience in various file systems and volume managers (VxFS, HDFS, LVM)Experience in optimizing, monitoring and deploying applications within a distributed hybrid cloud environmentStrong analytical skills and ability to deliver with minimal supervisionAbility to create technical documentations including schematics and system processes4-year degree in a technology field or applicable work experienceParticipation in a rostered 24x7 operational team supporting the Linux infrastructure and to be on-call during off hours for approximately one week out of fourExperience with various server hardware vendors such as HP, Dell and IBMSome travel (
