About us
UKRI is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Our organisation brings together the seven disciplinary research councils, Research England, which is responsible for supporting research and knowledge exchange at higher education institutions in England, and the UK's innovation agency, Innovate UK. Our nine councils work together in innovative ways to deliver an ambitious agenda, drawing on our great depth and breadth of expertise and the enormous diversity of our portfolio. This role will sit within the Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) function who deliver and support our digital products and services across UK Research & Innovation, putting users at the centre of what we build.

About the role
We are recruiting for a highly skilled technologist with experience across several technology domains but with an emphasis on the identity and integration space. You will play a vital role in ensuring our identity and integration services are delivered and managed aligned with the business's needs. Working closely with DDaT colleagues and suppliers, you will ensure the technical solutions evolve following the roadmap, remaining fit for purpose, and providing an acceptable balance of flexibility versus control.

As the Identity Technical Lead, you will be responsible for understanding and implementing new services in the email and identity spaces, then transitioning them to delivery partners or arranging ongoing service delivery and ownership within the DDaT team.

About You
You will be able to demonstrate the technical knowledge and skills in a range of IT areas with a focus on:

  • Active Directory and Azure Active Directory in addition to Azure AD conditional access
  • Integration of SaaS applications, including SSO, Provisioning and API integration
  • Federated authentication protocols and technologies (e.g. SAML, OpenID Connect, Shibboleth)
  • Scripting experience (e.g. PowerShell or Python) and its use in managing Windows, O365, Azure technologies and RESTful APIs more broadly
  • Taking a problem or requirements specification and designing and implementing technical solutions

In return UKRI can offer the successful candidate:

  • Flexible Working
  • 30 days annual leave + Public Holidays
  • Access to Civil Service Pension Scheme
  • Various everyday discounts through our dedicated provider
