Laser Design Engineer

New role for a Lasers Design Engineer based in Glasgow for an international leader in engineering and test of microelectronics and related equipment. The Lasers and Quantum Engineer will be using cutting edge technology while receiving support in their own professional advancement.

Focussing on development of highly integrated, miniaturised, and robust laser products to be used in quantum-enabled positioning, navigation and timing systems, the Lasers Design Engineer will be expected to design and prototype frequency stabilised line width diode lasers. 

Skills necessary:

• Ph.D. (preferred) in physics, optics, atomic molecular physics, quantum optics, spectroscopy, or laser engineering.
• Relevant industrial experience in optical component and system design
• Knowledge of FMEA and DOE
• Understand the applications of narrow linewidth lasers
• Experience in electronic test equipment
