What to expect

Vehicle Safety owns the setting & delivery of the safety targets for each vehicle program. Targets are developed at vehicle and sub system levels. The department integrates the activities of design, development, CAE and test groups to deliver development / optimisation plans and gateway report outs. The department manages outsourced safety testing.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Ensure all PAT Leaders deliver Attribute Requirement targets and status by Gateway
* Support the Attribute Team Leaders to ensure all technical issues are identified and resolved
* Assess test and development activities to ensure Attribute sign-off and efficient delivery
* Ensure DVP makes use of best practices and maximises use of cost effective tools and techniques such as CAE
* Stand-in for PAT Leaders over test / holiday periods
* Track total Attribute AIMS Status and ensure all open issues are being progressed
* Identify departmental resource requirements in support of cycle plan and programmes
* Identify process improvements and methods development required for Attribute development
* Develop and deploy the Attribute Strategy for forward model years and programmes
* Work with component engineers and suppliers as required to drive implementation and resolution of all engineering solutions
* Work on tasks to ensure all lessons learnt from all programmes are captured as best practice and communicated as necessary
* Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested


What you'll need

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

* Previous experience of problem solving tools e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving,
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
* The individual must have effective communication skills and be comfortable with interfacing at various levels throughout the business including with suppliers & legal teams.
* A working knowledge of corporate and legal vehicle safety standards is essential.
* A good understanding of physics / mechanical principles is required.
* An individual who is familiar with all aspects of the vehicle architecture.
* An individual who is familiar with Vehicle Safety Integration activity and testing activity.
* An individual who has a high level of computer literacy.
* An individual who understands product liability.


Desirable:
* Microsoft package elements Project, Power Point and Excel
* Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering and cross functional experience
* An understanding of CAE tools and techniques would be advantageous.
* An individual who is able to demonstrate their ability to manage a team of engineers in a high pressure environment.
* An individual who can manage people/activities ongoing on multiple sites.
* An individual who can manage multiple projects running concurrently.
