We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to work in the Card Servicing Lab, based in Edinburgh city centre, within the Consumer Servicing Value Stream. Our purpose is to provide market leading customer experience through the servicing of Debit and Credit cards via multiple channels, including digital. We're responsible for servicing over 40 million active debit and credit cards across all LBG brands, and work alongside global industry leaders, including Visa and MasterCard, using data, technology and systems thinking to drive great outcomes and experiences for our customers.

The key missions of this role:

Collaborating to build innovative and industry leading features, applying modern engineering design principles and technology to meet the needs of our 38 million credit and debit card customers?

Be a leader with a vision in technology and use this to help define and drive the future technical strategy.

Work with Engineering teams to up-skill their capabilities in their relevant area.

Take ownership and lead teams to deliver customer outcomes.

Be an ambassador for the continuous improvement of the systems and technologies in the team.

What skills and experience should I have?

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll have a broad technical appreciation combined with a strong delivery approach. The below list is not 100% required:

Skilled in the leadership and delivery of technical change using Agile methodologies

Experienced in technical architecture, infrastructure and hardware and able to lead teams, set direction and solve problems when delivering change in these areas.

Being an advocate of both Cloud Technology, DevOps and micro-service architecture to help shape the technology transformation plan.

A people leader who has experience in running Engineering Guilds and the line management of Software Engineers to support their learning and development.

In terms of personal skills, you'll be a keen and comfortable communicator who is happy working with a wide range of technical and non-technical staff.
