Simpler and Better Funding Programme (SBF) Lead Product Manager Salary: £50,702 - £56,336 per annum (with further negotiation available for an exceptional candidate) Contract Type: Fixed Term Until March 2025 Hours: Full time Location: Swindon

UKRI has created the Simpler and Better Funding (SBF) Programme, bringing together all of the projects relevant to UKRI's funding processes and systems to deliver a single, reformed, end to end funding service for UKRI, including a multi-million-pound new, electronic application system.

The Delivery Teams within the Simpler and Better Funding Programme are responsible for transforming the UKRI Funding platforms and delivering a digital service to meet user needs. The Programme involves not only digital delivery but also major transformation in the simplification of UKRI's funding opportunities across the 9 councils.

The key purpose of this role is to be the Senior Leadership representative for the Delivery Teams, working closely with the Service Owner and Programme Manager to deliver the programme against the roadmap, to time and to budget.

To achieve this, you will:

Own and manage the vision for the UKRI Funding Service, promoting support and buy-in across the entire organisation and its stakeholder communities as a service, which meets user needs

Lead your product managers, empowering them to run their delivery teams on their parts of the service

Ensure your domain expertise is kept up to date by maintaining close contact with key business stakeholders across UKRI. This includes working closely with UKRI's Reforming our Business programme team and understanding how the funding service can provide desired outcomes.

Work closely with policy and business change teams to understand organisational constraints and how best to tackle them to achieve a simpler service that meets user needs.

Work closely with your user researchers, testers and service designers, scoping tasks and keeping abreast of user feedback

To succeed in this role, the successful candidate will have an appropriate qualification in product management or significant relevant experience and be able to demonstrate the following.

Experience of product management and leading product teams

Ability to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices

Lead teams through the full product life cycle

Good financial acumen and an understanding of achieving commercial outcomes, delivering added value, understanding market and customer issues and using these to promote innovative business models.
