About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Intelligence Analyst to contribute to workforce intelligence and planning activities across a range of areas. This will support the development and implementation of Scottish Government policy and changes in legislation that affect the social service workforce.

You will play a lead role in delivering data, intelligence and analysis to support workforce planning by Government, national bodies, employers and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). This will include being the main contact for work with consultants to develop reproducible analytical pipelines (RAPs) for data sets and reports produced by the Workforce Intelligence team. You will also use your expert knowledge to gather, evaluate and analyse complex information from a wide range of external and internal sources to show patterns and trends and develop and deliver products that will help key stakeholders.

Who we are:

The SSSC produces Official and National Statistics on the Scottish social service sector. We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means that people can count on social work, social care and early years services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce.

We protect the public by registering social work, social care and early years workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and take action.

What you need to succeed

We are looking for someone with:

a degree in a relevant subject

proven experience working in an analytical field using a range of methods to gain insight and intelligence from large volumes of quantitative data

the ability to interpret complex information and identify key trends in the data

good communication skills and experience in both report writing and delivering presentations to non-technical audiences

strong IT skills including use of software such as R.

Why work for us:

We are an ambitious, enthusiastic and supportive organisation. With around 300 employees, you can really make an impact here. We offer a generous salary, flexible working arrangements, a full range of benefits, local government pension scheme and up to 43 days holiday (dependent on service). Please note new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

You can find out more about the benefits of working here on our website.

Our office is in Dundee but, during COVID-19, home based working was the norm. Since restrictions have begun to be lifted we now encourage remote working and support a less office-based format. We are developing our agile working policy and are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider agile working as an option, depending on job requirements (such as being in the office for training events and meetings etc) and meeting the eligibility criteria determined by the new policy. We welcome applications from candidates outside Dundee and the surrounding areas.

Please apply by 8am on 27 June 2022. We expect to hold interviews in the week commencing 11 July 2022.
