If the idea of working as a Data Engineer on a unique historical programme and playing a meaningful role in the story of our capital city sounds like the kind of challenge you would relish, come and be part of our structure for success.

The Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal (R&R) Programme is set to be the UK's biggest and most complex ever renovation programme. Indeed, significant work is needed to protect and preserve this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site and ensure it can continue to serve as the home of the UK Parliament in the 21st Century. Accordingly, we're looking for people with a good understanding of data science and a real desire to help shape our future  - and improve our current capabilities - to take on this brand new role within our Data and Digital department.

As a key member of our Data team, we'll rely on you to help establish our entire data science practice. Indeed, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the success of our data capability and data platforms at an early stage of the programme. Then, as the programme progresses, you'll get to play your part in co-creating a data function and designing capability that will help us deliver some truly complex high profile works in a safe, data-driven and cost-effective manner.

A key aspect of the role will be the need to collaborate with the wider organisation in order to get to know the business, understand their data needs and ensure they have the data they need. We'll also look to you to define our data models, improve our data quality and create a single-source-of-truth for our metrics. And, when it comes to helping to realise value from data by working with analysts across the business to deliver business intelligence functionality, again, we'll count on you. Along the way, you'll work with 3D models, imagery, point clouds and a wide range of archive data and liaise with a variety of stakeholders and colleagues.

To succeed, you'll need experience of using CI/CD tooling to analyse, build, test and deploy code and a proven ability to deliver well written tested object-orientated python. A good understanding of design choices for data storage and data processing is also required, with a particular focus on cloud data services. You'll also need an interest in Digital Construction and an appreciation of data technologies, including open-source programming language, data management and cloud. Self-directed, curious and innovative, you're a keen learner who likes to share their knowledge and are comfortable collaborating with data scientists, data analysts, product owners and business users alike.

We are committed to promoting diversity and to equal opportunities in employment. We are building diverse teams and seek to attract and retain talented individuals from a range of backgrounds and cultures to join us on this hugely challenging and important project.

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer 30 days annual leave, a generous pension, discretionary bonus scheme, life assurance and payment of professional membership.

Please apply by submitting a CV and cover letter stating your current salary and benefits, your suitability for the role and if you believe you have any current or potential conflicts of interest relating to this.

Successful candidates will be required to complete security vetting to a SC Security level obtained through the Parliamentary Security Department (PSD). Candidates are required to pass these checks before a start date can be confirmed. Applicants should also be aware that, depending on the role applied for, if they have resided outside of the UK for a total of more than two of the last five years, they may not be eligible for vetting.
